What Will Neuropsychological Evaluation Tell Me About My Child?

A neuropsychological evaluation helps to better understand a child’s functioning in areas like memory, attention, social skills, coordination, language, and behavior. This information can be used to:

  • Provide a diagnosis or confirm a diagnosis
  • Provide a profile of strengths and weaknesses to guide treatment planning which may include speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, medication recommendations, or counseling
  • Document changes in functioning, including effects of treatment or disease
  • Recommend strategies to parents, care providers, and teachers to help your child adjust to his/her weaknesses
